The Chief Inspector Gamache Novels

Wow!!! This series is just wonderful. I have never been a reader who is into mysteries, as I always found that the beautiful details that of a story were often lost in the driving plot. So… if you are in the same boat, then this is the series for you!

Before you start reading this series, I will warn you… they are highly addictive, and cannot be read without being accompanied with a cup of coffee or glass of your preferred beverage (a big glass of red for me!!). Just the descriptions of crossiants was enough to get me into my local fav crossiant place, Electric City Bread Company for their beautiful crossiants to eat while I read!

Recently finishing the 9th novel in the series, I am astounded by the beauty of the writing and the driving plot. If you haven’t read any of this series I recommend starting at the beginning (which is Still Life), because as the series progresses the characters develop and as a reader I  became so invested in them.

The last novel in the series I read was, The Long Way Home. This one has a special place in my heart as my Mom and I visited the town of  Baie-Saint-Paul on a trip and have fond memories of our time together. This wonderful little town, which is the origins of Cirque de Soliel, is full of cafes and artisan shops just like the novel describes!

I could go on and on about these novels, but there is only one thing you need to know… and that is to read this beautiful and thrilling series! The momentum just builds from the each novel to the next. I find myself wondering throughout the day “What will happen in Three Pines today???”

Now you know my deep love for Louise Penny’s novels. Her work is just pure genius, and makes me proud to be Canadian!! If you have read these novels and have thoughts let me know! I’d love to hear.

I am just getting into the next one in the series and, of course, loving it!

Anywho, happy reading my friends!!
